Grande Prairie, with a population of over 44,000 is the largest centre in Alberta north of Edmonton. It's also a big game hunter's paradise with an abundance of moose, elk, deer and bear in the surrounding areas.

Some Native American tour operators offer the opportunity to spend the night in a tepee. Renting a camper has become increasingly popular in recent years and is an excellent way to explore the parks.
