Sparsely populated Newfoundland and Labrador offer a variety of accommodations, from fine hotels in St. John's to hospitality homes in tiny fishing villages (residents open their homes to paying guests—the province licenses properties after an inspection). Visitors can also stay in small hotels, motels, housekeeping cabins (some are winterized), bed-and-breakfasts and campgrounds....

Fly-in hunting and fishing camps provide the adventurous with remote rustic cabins or lodges with indoor plumbing and electricity. It's best to prearrange accommodations, especially outside larger centers, because many areas do not see a consistent stream of travelers. Expect only the basics in some of the less-populated areas, and be aware that many properties operate only seasonally.
